All Decked Out

Our neighbors just had a deck built so we’ve all been ogling over how pretty it is.  There have been many jokes about how they should have connected a zip line or water slide directly from their deck to our other neighbor’s pool!  While that definitely wasn’t feasible this go around, it did inspire me to check out some deck spaces that DID have slides and boy did I find some great ones.

Probably the most popular inspiration picture for kid incorporated deck spaces (especially if you’re looking for one with a slide) is this photo of an amazing deck with a slide that lands in a sand box, a play house with shapes and that super fun chalk board.  The photo is credited to Gardenphotos.com but I should point out that the design and implementation is actually by Boardman, Gelly & Co and I HIGHLY recommend you click over to their site to see some of the amazing playground structures and components they work with.

Having a slide extend from the deck is not rare concept in practice – in fact, check out all of these great examples I found:

Slides aside, how awesome would it be to have a secret trap door in your deck floor?  One man’s deck is another kid’s tree house, right?

And if you’re not feeling the previous options, there is always the option to turn the space under the deck into a cool, dynamic space for kids to play.

Do you have any deck dreams?
