Living in a barn has always intrigued me. Perhaps my Southern Indiana upbringing and grandfather’s farm has left some rustic sentiment in my heart, or maybe I just love the idea of exposed beams. Whatever the cause of the obsession, after spotting this recent project from Maxwan Architects (based in The Netherlands), my barn cravings are here to stay.
Although I’m admittedly not much of a chef, the kitchen alone has my heart aflutter. I love the balance of minimal furnishings and visual interest (not to mention the sweet pops of cherry red with those dining room chairs!).
And although the stairways look quite hazardous, the floating concept leaves the space open and airy — the best combination!
Goodbye stables and manure — hello, pretty home!
