West Hollywood Rolls Out the Red Carpet

West Hollywood is the latest store to open its doors, marking our third retail location in California and ninth overall. Located at 9020 Beverly Boulevard in the heart of the Los Angeles design community, FLOR gives Californians another spot to come in and take the ultimate toe test.

FLOR’s Grand Opening kicked off with old friends and new faces gathering to celebrate.

Like all our FLOR Stores, the West Hollywood location allows customers the chance to interact with their favorite colors, textures and patterns up close and in person.

FLOR is excited to be a part of such an innovative, fashion-forward design community in Los Angeles and we look forward to continuing to grow our Southern California roots.

FLOR goes to Houston

We are excited to announce the opening of our sixth FLOR Store in Houston, Texas.

Located at 2800 Kirby Drive in the West Ave. River Oaks shopping district, our Houston store shows off all the possibilities that FLOR can bring to your space. In addition to our inspiring vignettes, you will find a 30-foot runner that lets the tiles do the talking; telling a color, texture and pattern story from the front of the store to the back.

With already existing stores in New York, Chicago, Santa Monica, Atlanta and Dallas, the Houston store provides another opportunity for FLOR fans to come in and experience what we like to call “The Toe Test.”

We have a team of experienced FLOR design consultants available – either in-store or in-home through specially-scheduled appointments – to help choose styles, coordinate colors and answer questions on care or assembly.

The design of the Houston store is also in keeping with this responsible design philosophy, featuring energy efficient lighting, HVAC and mechanical systems, environmentally conscious wood floors, maximum use of natural lighting through floor-to-ceiling windows and paperless receipts.

Be sure to spot in and pay us a visit.  The Houston store hours are Monday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, noon – 5:00 p.m. For more information on all of our FLOR Stores visit FLOR.com

FLOR Opens NYC Flagship Store

We had a very exciting weekend here at FLOR.  Our flagship store opened in New York’s SoHo neighborhood.  The third of its kind, (we also have stores in Chicago and Santa Monica) the SoHo store is prominently located in an enclave of like-minded design focused storefronts and is the largest of our retail spaces – featuring two-stories of beautiful design and inspiration.

We consider it a design studio or workshop as much as a retail location.  Samples of every FLOR style are on hand so you can experience FLOR squares up-close and in person; exploring the construction, quality, thickness, and durability.  Like all FLOR stores, the SoHo location has grids on the floor, providing a veritable canvas and inviting you to experiment with combinations of varied texture, color and pattern.

The SoHo opening coincides with the launch of the our signature Floresse Collection, a series of  premium styles made from 100% wool. Sinking your fingers (or toes) into one of these, is reason alone to visit the store.

There’s more FLOR to come. A fourth FLOR store is scheduled to open in Atlanta on April 28, with plans for 8 to 10 additional stores by year-end.  Be sure to stop by and say hello. Visit the SoHo store at 142 Wooster Street, New York, NY 10012. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 11 am to 7 pm and Sundays, noon to 6 pm.

Telling Stories With Pictures with Thom Glick

What is your Story?

We all have important stories to tell.

Most of us use words; either spoken or scribed on a page. Thom Glick uses images. I had the pleasure to attend a workshop hosted by FLOR, on July 14 from 6 to 8pm at their retail location in Chicago, with Illustrator Thom Glick.  In attendance were students from UIC’s design department, Harrington School of Design, several local designers and architects, as well as FLOR enthusiasts and customers. In the Spring of 2010, Thom partnered with FLOR to create a design appropriately titled:  Character Sketch, in which the viewer is invited to explore a collage of his illustrations.  It is a natural collaboration, founded in a common belief that self-expression through design, is an opportunity to convey emotion and start meaningful conversations.
