Gorgeous and Green: 6 Wallpaper Designers To Love

Healthy homes deserve healthy wall coverings, and with the growing number of environmentally-conscious designers, there's no need to choose between style and responsibility. Wallpapers made with sustainably-sourced fibers, non-toxic inks, and other eco-friendly manufacturing practices are good for your room and the world at large. Here are six of my favorite independent designers and companies with a peek at some of their modern, whimsical, and absolutely gorgeous green offerings.

Trove – Think wallpaper is staid and stuffy? Trove's dreamy, romantic designs are anything but. The company's REDEUX line is PVC free, low VOC, and made from over 31% post-consumer recycled materials. Customers can even send the wall coverings back to Trove for recycling. Pictured: Ankaa and Auva

Camilla Diedrich – This Swedish designer's brilliant wallpapers incorporate fiber optics so they glow without using any electricity. They're dynamic, luminous, and made with unbleached, partially recycled paper and eco-friendly ink. Pictured: Nature Ray Charles and True Blue Gold

Farrow & Ball – Farrow & Ball has been hand crafting paint and wallpaper in Dorset, England, since 1946. Their pattered wallpapers are block printed and hand-brushed the old-fashioned way with eco-friendly, water-based paints. Made to order, each design comes in a dizzying array of colors. Graham & Brown – Graham & Brown's commitment to environmental responsibility includes practices like recycling, managed drainage, energy-saving lighting practices, and the use of paper from managed forests. The company's Eco Collection features green-themed designs printed on FSC-certified paper with water-based, VOC-free inks and wrapped in compostable packaging. Louise Body – Elegant and whimsical, the wallpapers from English designer Louise Body are not only charming to look at but also kind to the environment. They're made with water-based inks and paper sourced from managed forests. Pictured: Pavilion Birds Blue and Erotica

Madison and Grow – With one collection that's coastal inspired (Martha's Vineyard) and another full of designs that pop (Pasadena), Madison and Grow's wallpapers are fun and eco-friendly. The company uses responsibly-sourced, chlorine-free paper and its mill/supplier generates half of its electricity from hydroelectrics.
