Green Style: Decorating With Acorns

Sometimes the best decor items can be found right under your feet … if you don't mind competing with the squirrels for them! I'm talking about acorns. They have such natural charm, and it doesn't need to get more complicated than a simple bowl of nuts on a shelf or table. But if you're feeling up to a little DIY activity, here are some other fun ideas:

Dana at Made has great instructions for making an acorn wreath, which can be left natural or painted. Be sure to check out the post for more bright and colorful wreaths (pink! green!) and then head over to See Kate Sew and Mod Kid Likes for some other stylish examples.

At left, Pottery Barn's Hanging Mason Jar is filled with plastic acorns, but it would be easy – and more green – to get the look with real acorns. At right, sweet little acorn ornaments seen at Better Homes and Gardens.

Here are two ways to bring natural, seasonal flair to the table. Get instructions for making the acorn napkin ring at Better Homes and Gardens and the harvest napkin tie at Martha Stewart.
