Harvest season…

Completely unexpected, but what a great find! Was just flipping through an old Domino magazine and saw this wonderful story of "Vegetables in Vases" and had to share this gorgeousness, or at least document it somehow! I do miss the magazine, especially stories like this where everyday objects (ie. produce!) could turn into art forms. Easy enough to replicate at your own home and will definitely not cost an arm and a leg. Just a little creativity and a stop at the farmers market and you are all set. Too beautiful to put this issue back onto the shelves without sharing, don't you think?

… a vegetable still life of purple cauliflower, pepper plant, beet greens, kale, asparagus and fennel. Wouldn't this make a great centerpiece?

… this could possibly be my favorite of all. Just three small white Japanese eggplants… Looks amazing with the coral piece.

… yup, you guessed it, a bowl of parsley that takes less than a minute to arrange. So fresh and happy looking!

… a mixture of mustard leaves and kale in a glossy black vase (which I think is the key here). Love how the leafy texture picks up the delicate carvings of the mantle/fireplace.

… a fresh bouquet of roses? Nope, just two dozen heads of baby flowering kale! So pretty… a little cream, a little purple…

Love the idea of veggies as centerpieces- is it just me- or do the veggies go limp really quickly- any advice to keep them fresh?

Beautiful photos. It's amazing how elegant vegetables can be.
