My son and I were over a friend's house recently and they had just gotten a really fun tent from Ikea. Apparently, when your 19 months old, there is nothing in the world more exciting than a tent, because we could barely coax him out of it long enough to eat some graham crackers. And he really likes his graham crackers.
So I started to look into getting a tent for him to have at home but was stalled by how small of a space we have to put a tent and the fact that I didn't actually want a nylon tent-of-many-colors in the middle of my dining room – the one and only place left in our home where a tent would even fit. And then I remembered the ubiquitous teepee…and upon further search came across this awesome-sauce picture of a super-cute teepee in the middle of someone else's dining room. I was hooked!
Look…it's even cute in a bedroom!
There are some really cute teepee options out there that have beautiful applique and windows and flags.
But when I saw the next two I decided I HAD to have a teepee with an awesome fabric which means making it myself.
I'm not heck-a crafty with the sewing machine, so this could end up being a project that makes me want to cry…but I will be sure to fill you in on the deets once I decide which of the many amazing fabrics that are available out there I want to grace my dining room in the form of a teepee.
Did you have a teepee as a kid?
