If the shoe fits…

One of the many realities of life is that we can’t all live in perfectly charming spaces with gorgeous wood floors, creamy white walls, beautiful light and oodles of character.  Sometimes, our current place in life is to live in a cookie-cutter white apartment with beige carpet, plastic blinds and a laminate kitchen.  This is why I audibly gasped aloud when I recently discovered these photographs of Chris and Stacey Sargent’s home in California over at 6th Street Design School.

I give them boatloads of credit for working with what they had to make their space unique and fun.  This is the kind of thing I am all about…sometimes we don’t have the time, the resources, the energy, the manpower or the permission to do exactly what we want to do in our spaces; that’s what I call needing design to meet us where we are.  Sure, underneath all that amazing design, you can still see that they are living in a white box and yes, someday, these items are going to be absolutely killer in a home with more character; but for now, this is the shoe that fits and they are certainly wearing it well.
