Kids Shmids!!

The new Land of Nod catalog showed up on my doorstep the other day.  I have long been a fan – you can see use of their pillows and book rails back in this post of my son’s Big Boy room.  And as awesome as everything is in their catalog, there are a few standouts that I wanted to highlight here…specifically, because they are beautifully designed pieces that could very easily function in a non-kid space…for a whole-lot-less hurtin’ on the wallet.

Check out these Saved by the Cube locker baskets…I really like the bright yellow ones and in an industrial-chic setting it could really pop.  Compared to these Gym Baskets from Ballard, they’re a great deal.

And who’d-a-thunk I would have started a drapery design revolution with my color blocked curtains.  Land of Nod sells these Color Edge Curtains starting at $39 – a steal compared to Calico Corners’ Flat Panel Draperies.

I fell deeply in love with this Double Drum Pendant in Gray — which is great, because the alternative Hubbardton Forge Exos is well out of my lighting budget.

Anthropologie’s Le Versha Chair is downright gorgeous…and pretty pricey IMHO.  No worries…here comes this equally striking Looking Glass Desk Chair from Land of Nod to the rescue!!

If you’re looking to capitalize on the vintage botanical print trend, Land of Nod has a collection of sweet Canvas Banners. A quick look for other Papillon prints garnered these Insecta Framed prints from Ballard.

Lastly, I had to include this Wall Box Set, available in a variety of powder coated finishes vs a similar concept CB2 has, their repeating red wall shelf.  Thanks to Erin’s recent post on Cube Shelving, I’m totally smitten with the idea.

So who says the kids get to have all of the design fun…I say “Kids, SHMIDS!!!”

Would you ever use kids design in an adult space?

Land of Nod is my favorite! I am almost always drawn to “kiddie” things. So yes, definitely use those in my house!
