There’s a chill in the air, the leaves are falling, Christmas trees are popping up and drugstore candy aisles have magically transformed from orange and black to red and green. Of course our first holiday stop is Thanksgiving this week. As a new newlywed, I will be enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday with my husband’s family this year. I am very thankful for my extended family and thought I would share a little bit of my thanks by baking homemade gifts for the evening. To get started, I am turning to one of my absolute favorite food and lifestyle blogs, Roost, for inspiration. Here are three homemade goodies that Roost blogger, Caitlin, has shared on her blog that I am going to try in my kitchen.
Oh, I love this special idea, Homemade Rosemary Apple Butter (pictured above). This butter tastes incredible and can be enjoyed for sweet and savory flavors. I also love the simple packaging idea – a little burlap swatch on a small glass mason jar. Click here for the recipe.
I love Caitlin’s statement that *every celebration needs a proper cake* YES! How lovely is this Harvest cake with vanilla cream? I certainly would love baking this and sharing this cake with my family.
I also love this third idea - butternut squash soup with pear, cider and vanilla bean. The sweet and savory style of the soup tastes incredible. This pretty dish can also be packaged up nicely in a jar to be given as individual mini-gifts to your family to take home with them to enjoy at a later time. Lovely.
Enjoy many more recipes and gorgeous photos over on the Roost blog and have a lovely holiday!
