How about a night gazing up at the stars from the warmth of your glass enclosed igloo? The concept, though compelling, might have proven a challenge, as frosty glass in the sub-zero temperatures would have impaired visibility, and one might have been chilled to the bone. This stunning project is a wonderful example of design and science working together to great result.
“A Saint-Gobain group brand specializing in active glass, Quantum Glass™ mission is to facilitate the creation of cutting-edge architectural projects through a variety of hybrid glass that change their optical and physical features, through a low electric current.” Genius! The Kakslauttanen Resort, located 250 km above the Arctic Circle in the Finnish part of Lapland, offers a night warm and comfortable, snuggled among the trees, with an unbelievable light show overhead of Aurora Borealis in Kakslauttanen.
