Have you been holiday shopping?
I know. It's not even Thanksgiving!
Suddenly, it seems the holiday season is already upon us! I've been noticing holiday decor creeping up everywhere, from retail stores to catalogs I've received in the mail. I can't help but notice some of the gorgeous layouts and tables set for a festive meal.
This December, our home is going to be part of the Reindeer Walk, which is a house walk for charity, benefiting the Hospital Association in our town. It's a lovely event, as 6 families open their homes for the holiday tour.
The homeowner's make the environment festive with their traditional holiday decor, and a florist comes in with flowers, garland, and greenery. Let me just say, I'm a little light on the decorations. We tend to keep things simple around our house. We do make the annual journey to cut down our Christmas tree, and add vintage ornaments from our collection, which I am looking forward to.
The flowers for our home will be an important feature. I've been looking at images to share with our floral designer, and have come across some gorgeous displays. The rich lush color and diverse textures of this collection are exactly what I was looking for. I love the simplicity of the compositions, and the delicate visual balance is breathtaking. The unexpected elements like the pomegranate, fern fronds and olive tree leaves, create a special and unique arrangement. We all want something a little "different", and it is fun to mix it up and try something new each season.
I hope you also find the images refreshing and as innovative as I have, and perhaps an inspiration for the season ahead.
