I love the idea of re-purposing old pallets found and discarded outside of restaurants, shipment centers or office buildings. From beds to sofas (and more ideas here!), they offer a wide range of possibilities while providing plenty of character from any space. (There’s just something so very comfortable and “lived in” about a rustic piece, and you truly can’t get more rustic than a recycled wood pallet, right?) Yet by far, one of my favorite pallet transformations is this smart, functional coffee table from Ellinors Hus.
Wired furnishings have been trending for years, but with this season’s brightly-colored and candy-coated hues, it’s hard not to take notice. Here are a few statement makers we’ve spotted that are worth a second glance! (Can you guess which two amazing deals are less than $30?):
… hang something unexpected from your ceiling beams?
I love exposed beams in ceilings, perfect for creating an airy feel in any room while providing it with a healthy dose of character. But if you’re into extremes, why not give your ceiling beams just the tiniest extra jolt and add something truly surprising overhead?
… make an impromptu stool with a stack of magazines and some belts?
I love how resourceful many stylists are, swooping in at the last minute to further beautify a less-than-perfect space. In this case, a bit of reading material goes a long way in bringing some personality (and surprise seating!) into the space. Such a fun idea, right?
… mural your ceiling?
I posted a glorious chalkboard ceiling last month, but isn’t the idea paling in comparison to this Sistine Chapel-esque muraled room? It’s overwhelming, yes, but is the perfect hiding spot for an art lover with a penchant for painterly inspiration.
