Sophie Delaporte for Comme Des Garçons’ Idomenee Book
Posted by Cynthia | Filed under Musings
The artful and sculptural collection of Comme des Garçons, has been captured by Parisian photographer Sophie Delaporte for the new Comme Des Garcon’s Idomenee Book. The graphic presentation of this collections color and contrast is perfectly styled by Kanako B.Koga. Appropriately, this fashion brand has been exhibited in museums through the years, as the attention to detail, form, and texture is dramatic and oh-so beautiful. While living in New York, I often visited the store in Soho to view new lines, as it offered an up close study in design and materiality, and frankly some fabulous and beautiful people watching. Always anticipated at Fashion Week, and of course, not one to disappoint. The modernity and simplicity of model, costume and backdrop, paired with deliberate lighting and exacting color, create a dramatic image filled with intensity and purpose. Enjoy.

A Dream File Addition: Fashion Trunks
Posted by Rebecca | Filed under Musings
Do you have a dream file? I certainly do and it’s full of digital images ranging from places to visit one day, design ideas to try, items I would love to have, fashion that inspires – just all-around style that I love, swoon over, covet, you name it. It’s fun *dreaming* away for my one-day home and I think I have found my next addition to my dream file.
Geren Lockhart, Founder and Creative Director of fashion brand, Geren Ford, is an avid traveler and she shared a fabulous fashion trunk during a recent stay at The Berkeley Hotel in London. What a luxurious and lovely way to enjoy a stay?! Not only can you enjoy having a cool vintage piece like this in your {home away from home} space but it’s full of curated vintage fashion finds and accessories that – yes – you even get to wear. Oh la, a girl can dream.

Raf Simons

Raf Simons is the influential designer behind Jil Sander and his own Eponymous line. His mantra is “Pride in Individuality”. Fabulous. In addition to being a talented designer, he’s an interesting guy. Raf was born in Belgium in 1968. He graduated in Industrial Design and Furniture Design in 1991 and started working as a furniture designer for galleries and private interiors. Then, he made a radical change of profession, and became a self trained menswear designer in 1995. A true interdisciplinary designer, introducing his modern and individualist design philosophy to all he touches. From his fashion design, to the design of his home, I just love the he simplicity and considered detailing reflected. ‘Simon’s mid-century Modernist two story open floor plan apartment in Antwerp is full of collectible art and furniture’. The space is visibly deliberate and modern, and the art collection is playful, and full of color. There is a wonderful curated feeling to the space, well composed and presented. The abundance of natural light creates a warm, inviting and very livable environment. Thanks Raf. Nice digs.
