See-Through Your Office Style

Ah, work. It can be exciting, demanding, challenging, rewarding, sometimes all of this wrapped up into one. While you are busy making things happen, consider doing so in a well-designed and stylish space. Whether you work in an office or from home, creating a design statement in your everyday work life truly can make a difference. A little color, a little style, a little design love not only looks great but can make you feel great – a win-win!

I often write and work from home and have created a dedicated office space. Aside from my personal items and important-to-me objects that adorn my desk, there are the usual office supplies…paperwork, pens, pencils, folders. These items can spill over so I used my fave small space trick when it comes to containing these things – a lucite tray. See through items continue the eyes to keep moving and allow the space to appear bigger – yes! And this see-through idea can also be interpreted to your entire home with lucite tables, shelves and more.

When organized chaos meet Mr. Cherner…

Hello! My name is Peggy and I’m thrilled to be here as a contributing blogger on FLOR. First off, just a little background info on me. I’m a designer and art director based in Los Angeles. My company bluepoolroad is a minimalist design + products studio. You will also find me on the bluepoolroad blog sharing my love for photography, styling, architecture and interiors, everyday designs/objects that inspire me. Now some fun tidbits. My first love… typography. Biggest foodie moment to date… when Chef Hubert Keller gave me a personal tour of his kitchen at Fleur de Lys. Antique store find… original lithograph print by Alexander Calder. Current obsession… searching for the perfect deck chair! So for my very first post, I would like to share with you my favorite (home) office space that I go back again and again for inspirations:

… while the work area is on one side of the room, the adjacent wall sits the ever so handsome Cherner armchair. Love how the loose inspirations are discreetly taped onto the dividing wall, giving it a patterned look without overwhelming the airy space.

…  the window openings are cut and positioned precisely within the room. Talk about perfect proportions and the use of a not-so-plain white wall.

… so many details to love about this work area, but the set of sliding wire drawers at the end of the desk is pretty brilliant.

… even the most generic filing cabinet can look so stylish when topped with delicate white ceramics and a bit of fresh greens.
