I’m still diligently working on my son’s big-boy bedroom, although I am proud to say that now that his room darkening shades are installed, he has been sleeping in his new room in his new bed for over a week now. He was ready.
The next project up my sleeve was curtains. I found a great set of fairly inexpensive linen curtains at Ikea and loved that they were 1) linen and 2) cheap. But I didn’t love the tab tops for the curtain rod. I wanted something a bit more modern looking and the tab tops were H-U-G-E…as in, you could fit a bazooka through the space they allotted for the curtain rod, making the curtain hang down an odd length from the rod.
I have a funny feeling that IKEA is attempting to take over the world. First, well-designed and incredibly well-priced home furnishings, and now they’re chartering publishing territory? Say it ain’t so?
Friends, it is so so. And with beautiful photography and styling (from Evelina Bratell, no less!), it is also so incredibly desirable. And free! If you live in Sweden. Titled ‘Hembakat är Bäst (Homemade Is Best)’, IKEA’s new book (available in the kitchen section of Sweden’s IKEA stores) is a must for food and design lovers of all ages. And just to introduce the book in a fun manner, Grub Street New York has a guessing game going on. I failed miserably, because I don’t bake, but then again, all the more reason to take an impromptu trip to Sweden, yes?
