Now that the temps are finally heating up, I’ve got the great outdoors on the brain. And if I can’t frolic in the fields or bask in the sunshine during the day (curses, deadlines!), I might as well fake it, right? Here are three lovely ways to bring that beautiful, inspired weather inside my own four walls – and yours!:
I’ve written before of my admiration for Scandinavian design with its form, function, clean lines and minimalist tendencies. Yet it wasn’t until I saw these photos from Hus & Hem that I realized a prime element missing from the story: nature.
In this Swedish retreat, all the usual suspects are present. Black, white, pattern and function – but with a twist: fresh, green elements plucked straight from nature’s bounty. And although the home furnishings are a breath of fresh air, every piece takes a back stage to the true star of the show: lush scenery.

Sure, you may not have spare tea pots lying around your house, but I can guarantee you can find a variety at the thrift store… for pennies. Why not create mock planters and display your favorite greens on the back porch this summer?
I’d also play around with teacups, patterned vases and more for an eclectic and sweet look. Who says planters should have all the fun?
