I love wallpaper for the way it injects pattern and personality into every space, but I often think about how tedious it is to hang (and how wasteful its remnants can be!). But then I spotted Wall & Deco, an Italian company that specializes in custom-sized wall murals, all fit to the perfect size and scale of your desired room. And I can now safely say, I’m hooked.
… create your own, one-of-a-kind art?
Typography-based art is still going strong in the art/design world, and I love seeing the trend re-imagined in various homes. I spotted this image from Jennifer Hagler and my imagination was immediately sparked – I’m envisioning how perfect this piece would look in an office, bedroom or even nursery, spelling out all sorts of fun and quirky messages…
… turn that artwork upside down?
To be fair, the art pictured is not actually upside down – it just appears to be. Yet what a beautiful reminder it offers for perspective – the importance of seeing the world differently and viewing our surroundings in new and exciting ways.
Inspirational words and phrases are becoming increasingly common in today’s homes, perfect for a midday pick-me-up or gentle reminder. Yet sometimes they feel contrived and over done, don’t you think? There are only so many “house rules” and family mottos to display, and I love the idea of introducing a few more quirky phrases into the mix. Behold, three current favorites fit for any home, perfect for sharing the true writing on the wall!:

… frame wrapping paper as artwork?
Original art can be pricey indeed, and large-scale wallpaper is just as expensive. Why not frame a sheet of wrapping paper in lieu of the fancy alternative? With hundreds of patterned options available year-round, it’s the perfect affordable fix to brighten any artless room.
Not sure where to start in choosing wrapping paper to frame? This marbled paper from Paper Mojo (found at Little Green Notebook) is a sure win for classic, glamorous spaces. And this quirky polka dot design would liven up any kids’ room. Or wouldn’t this graphic pattern look perfect in a modern office space?
Happy wrapping (err, framing!)!
