Why Don’t You…?

… craft an impromptu height chart using an oversized ruler?

If you enjoy spending time antiquing, you’ll notice how easy it is to spot certain items that are no longer in heavy rotation: vintage tin signs painted with historical slogans, heavy castiron pots, and – occasionally – oversized wooden rulers. Renovator Raina was lucky enough to find one (although given her DIY skills, I wouldn’t be surprised if she whipped this one up in an afternoon!), and I love the idea of transforming it into a sentimental height chart for those ever-growing kids.

And if you have decor anxiety like me, forever second-guessing your furnishing decisions, permanence can sometimes be a bad thing. The good news? With a bit of ingenuity, your favorite illustrative book and some poster putty, you can create your own temporary wallpaper – collage style!

Why Don’t You…?

Whether you’re still holding on to pen pal letters of years passed or are looking for something creative to do with a particularly telling grocery list, handwritten notes can double as custom artwork faster than you can nail another hole into the wall. Simply take the original to your local printer or office supply store and have them scan and blow up the image. Then, head to the craft store for an over-sized frame and – boom – instant graphic-based art for your happy walls.
