The Artful Valentine

I've been thinking about a Valentine for my special someone-s.  Let me just say, I'm not big on the readily-available-mass-produced-Valentine.  Although well intentioned, I find they don't often pack the punch I am looking for.  I guess I look at gifts like these as expressions of ourselves, which cannot easily be purchased.

With that said, take a peek at these lovely creations found at little paper planes. I find them to be expressive and special gestures of affection! Let's face it, we don't always have the time or wherewithal to hand make our gifts, or perhaps we need a fresh perspective or idea, like these gems offer.  I would be proud to extend one of these to my most special sweetheart!

“These Heart Keys are hand-drawn skeleton keys laser cut from vintage picture book covers. Each key is paired with a small manila envelope that reads “to my heart” across the front, and which has a small blank note card tucked inside. Use the included foil heart to seal the deal. 2” x 3.5.”  Art School Girl

Sum True Love “Vintage addition flash cards are screen-printed with a simple equation overlaid in red. You and Me equal True Love. Frame this print for your honey so they know you’ll love them 4 ever. A limited edition of 44.  3.5” x 6” flat.”   Art School Girl

My boys are of the age they exchange Valentines with classmates at school. They always deliver handmade gifts.  It takes a lot of time, but they have come to understand and enjoy the process of giving a gift of themselves.  These images will no doubt provide inspiration as they embark on their projects this weekend.

Wishing you an Artful Valentines Day!
