When living in a home with a small footprint, you definitely need to be creative when it comes to creating “rooms” when you may not have many of them. One of my fave small space tips is to define zones in your main living spaces to accommodate your needs. One of the main zones that is needed is a home office.
Traditionally, the home office was sequestered in it’s own room with a door and all the bells and whistles. These days, people who work from home can easily create an office space by using their walls. Most of us need a place to place our computer so look for a wall space that can provide 3 feet. One of the best reasons the wall works is that you can really use that vertical space the wall provides. It’s affordable and pretty easy to hang shelves and a desk that is perfect for your home office needs. Another neat small space benefit – the hanging shelves create a floating look and allows the eye to keep moving through the space. Hey, anything to make small spaces shine is worth it.
What do you think of the floating desk idea?
