We’ve talked about decorating with maps before, but what about dressing your windows with them? The unique scrolling design of many vintage, schoolhouse maps are perfectly suited for the task, and I love how it adds so much depth, character and history to the space.
Of course, if you’re not lucky enough to snag an authentic scroll map from your local antique shop, there are a few workarounds on your side. Take Martha Stewart’s map textile roller shade tutorial, for instance – an inexpensive way to re-purpose the shades you already own. Or, if you’ve got a bit of change to spare, you can buy this vintage beauty I spotted on eBay.
Talk about your own little window to the world, yes? Happy mapping, friends!
