Sometimes I need my design fixes to hit me over the head. Our DVR recently recorded a few episodes of Sarah's House on HGTV which is apparently the most popular design show in Canada. Well, I'm only in Massachusetts so I didn't get the memo. Somehow, despite our crazy-busy-we-don't-have-time-to-watch-random-shows-the-DVR-selected-for-us-schedule, I managed to sit down and watch all 10 episodes (not in one sitting…but still…a little embarassing).
One thing I noticed early on in my watching spree was that Sarah reupholsters furniture in every. single. room. in every. single. episode. And it is delicious to see what she comes up with.
Here are a few gems I stole from her website.
Now, I'm not one to put animal print in my living room unless you count my son's velvety, cheeta-print baby blanket with the gold satin trim that we were gifted which he absolutely adores…but I can't get over those masculine chairs paired with the exotic prints! Makes me want to start liking martinis-on-the-rocks with a twist and then drink some while sitting down in this lovely room:
And how fun is this antique chair re-do for a teenage girl's room…or you know…my escape room where I curl up with old Nancy Drew Hardcovers:
Sadly, I don't have any current furniture in my house that even romotely needs to be reupholstered any time soon (sure wish I had thought to re-do some old before purchasing new), but something small-scale like this chair is definitely within my financial and time budget:
And how about these lovely leggy ladies…why reupholster a whole chair when you can just do a small pop of color on a functional, budget friendly ottoman:
Those last two really make my heart go pitter patter. We have a guest bedroom around here that desperatley needs some sprucing up…do I smell project in my near future? Have you ever reupholstered something old into something new?
