Wide Appeal

Fashion and interior design have long borrowed from each other – that isn’t a new concept at all.  But I have to say, with Pinterest and shelter blogs and even Google Images, I am definitely becoming more aware of how things trend across the board, whether it be metallic accessories, the lived-in layered look or even -as I will cover today – the classic, wide stripe.

No less graphic than it’s cousin, the Chevron, the wide stripe is a bold option that exudes a more classic feel and though it too can be found everywhere these days (see the fantastic dress and sweater below), it is no where near as at-the-top-of-the-trend-bubble as Chevron is.

Personally, I’m looking into using a wide stripe as a flooring option.  Just look at how much interest the wide striped carpet adds to the room below.  It is playful, yet still handsome.  A total win!

And what better way to create a customized wide strip flooring option than right here at FLOR.  In less than 45 seconds I created this simple 8×10 area rug with Feeling Groovy tiles in Frost and Dusk using the ever-improving FLOR Builder tool on the website.  There are so many options as far as piles and colors and textures.  A tone-on-tone option would have just as much impact.

Where can you see a wide stripe in your home decor future?
