Modern Designers Carpets by FLOR
Carpet is a part of home interiors for a long long time. Although in many modern interior designs ceramic tiles and wooden floors aren’t covered by anything in order to archive minimalist look. Flor has come up with so great carpet designs that they could become great addition to such interiors. They usually are quite small and have fashionable colors. Thanks to that modern, minimalist interior won’t be spoiled with Flor carpet but it even will become better.
Luminous Metallics
That’s FLOR 2009 trend prediction. Sophistication and glamour come together with these stylish and subtle stripe tones topped off with a slight metallic sheen. The surface is soft cut pile with a velvety smooth finish.

Arren Williams: Going with the grain

These days there is definitely no reasonable excuse for having a boring floor and, while sisal and seagrass is still a classic go-to for most folks, you'll find that unusual patterns and directional colour are definitely more on the trend-forward side of things. One company to watch is Flor; manufacturers of modular carpet tiles. Now, if the thought of carpet tiles makes you think of your drab office pod with a blinking flourescent bulb above and grey carpet tiles below, Flor will have you thinking again. Their patterns for the home run the gamut from plush to funky, covering off botanicals and florals, cowhide, stripes and even skulls (perfect for your inner skateboarder). And carpet tiles make a huge amount of sense, since if you muck one up (though that's practically impossible) you can just pop it out and replace it. Plus they're a snap to install – the tiles stick together with adhesive dots – and can go wall-to-wall or work as an area rug.

Ooh la la Economical and Easy to Install Area Rugs
Hi! Whenever I have a client that mentions that they are looking for an economical area rug or carpet to withstand kids playing around, pets brouncing about, or friends and family visiting alot (or wild partiiieeess) I go into my secret resource bag (um, not a secret anymore .. wink wink)and pull out my FAVORITE area rug vendor called FLOR.com
Their "tiled carpet" designs are from funky fun to conservative designs, AND are EASY TO INSTALL. Rasie your hand if you love EASY techniques? Below is a picture of their regular tiles (size: 19.7" x 19.7")
Plus (yes, there is more), they recycle their carpet tiles - don't we love vendors that find ways for us to help our planet.

The Quest for the Perfect Rug
the quest for the perfect rug
Ever since we have moved into our house we have been on the quest for the perfect floor covering for our living room. This quest has taken almost five years and I hopefully have found the perfect floor covering solution, thanks to my large end of season swimming paycheck!
FLOR! I discovered FLOR almost eight years ago when I was a nanny because the family received the FLOR catalog. One day while bored I flipped through and thought it was cool, but didn't give it much thought until I had my own house and kids. We bought our home and and had kids and discovered how one cup of coffee, one bit of chocolate anything, and dirt can leave a stain that always seems to be blaring at you, basically ruining a whole carpet. I wanted something that would be like carpet without wall-to-wall carpeting, small enough to be washable, thick and soft enough to sit and play on, durable, something that won't show dirt and stains, and something that would match my funky green living room walls and FLOR seems to meet my requirements.

Two DIY Projects with FLOR Carpet Tiles
Two DIY Projects with FLOR Carpet Tiles

Here are a couple of my own DIY projects that I just completed. Above are photos of an installation I did at my vet’s office (Dreamy Draw Cat Hospital in Phoenix - hi, Dr. Oyan!) I used FLOR carpet tiles to cover the front of the check-in desk, creating a vertical scratching surface. Office cat Blackie is modeling.

I used the same Lane Change striped carpet tiles to cover a shelf on my new catio. I installed the shelf to cover the litter area and plan to make a curtain to hide everything. There’s also a sisal wrapped climbing pole that goes all the way to the ceiling. Ando is demonstrating. More catio details will be posted soon over at Catio Showcase.

Flor: Modular Flooring for your Home: Review & Contest
BACKGROUND: So, I've been in this house for the past 3 years. The house was "flipped". You know, when someone buys a foreclosed, "fixes" it economically and resells it.
Okay. Now somewhere along the lifespan of the house someone installed laminate in the great room. Which I love. The people that flipped it installed cheapo carpeting in the bedrooms. It is a magnet for anything the boys can spill or drop and it stains super easy.
PRESENT: So, for the past three years I have been researching rugs for the great room. Something that dogs/boys/husband wont mess up quickly making the attempt to pull together a room futile. So the other day I was online looking at different retailers when I remembered hearing about Flor. So I typed in the address and whoa....
A rug for every price range, from economical to high-fashion.
A rug for every lifestyle, urban, mod, classic and more.
A rug for every room from heavy traffic to low traffic. Sunrooms, living rooms, hallways or bathrooms.
A rug that fits every room. I mean it! You buy a rug by tile. Tiles may differ in size, but most are around 19.7" x 19.7". So if you buy 12 tiles, you get a 5 x 7 rug. 30 tiles will give you an 8 x 10 rug. But you can buy as many tiles as you need. You can actually install Flor WALL-TO-WALL!
Plus, you can mix and match tiles!

New FLOR entryway rug
New FLOR entryway rug
I used part of my day off yesterday to lay out our new FLOR carpeting as a large rug in our entryway/dog crate room/bike room. The finish on the wood flooring in this room is in bad shape, and has been since before we moved in, but it has become worse with an extra 5 years of wear and tear (not to mention extra wear from two pairs of dog feet!). Essentially, we need to strip and revarnish the floor in this area (and probably replace the flooring closest to the door, which was so salt damaged when we bought the house that we couldn't really get the varnish to stick despite the fact that we stripped & sanded it just like the floor in the rest of the house). If we do that now we will be required to do it again when we sell and move out, so it seems counter productive to refinish the entryway floor now.
Our decision was to purchase and lay a few squares of FLOR recycled carpet tile. It's durable, tough, recycled, recyclable, cute, squares can be easily removed for cleaning if needed, and individual squares can be swapped out easily if they become permanently damaged or stained. Sounds like the ideal flooring for us! It took me about an hour to line up and lay out and connect the tiles. It was a pretty fast DIY project.
Clara Bow has decided she likes having a more comfy and cushy entryway floor to lie on while watching me cook. I went to take photos of the carpeting and she insisted upon modeling the rug, she was that happy with it. I think it is pretty cute. And the blue color goes so nicely with our green walls and blue and white trim.

FLOR Fun Functional Flooring
|

I am almost always looking for ways in which I can change things in our house to help update the look. It isn’t easy to change furniture because these are the big ticket items in your home. I always love to shop for small things like rugs, or pillows, or a new place mats to help change things in the house. Let’s face it, if I am spending all my days at home, a change is always nice.
I recently was introduced to carpet tiles from FLOR. I had watched the show Trading Spaces many times and I remember seeing an episode where they carpeted a room with FLOR carpet tiles. This is such a cool way to change the look of an area in your home! Not only that, they are so versatile, in that, you can mix and match colors, cut the tiles to make a cool floor pattern, and it is so incredibly easy to do!
I was extremely excited to get this opportunity because I was dying to give them a try, and so sick of the boring rug choices that you find in the stores. Since this was my first experience using the tiles, I was primarily interested in how these things work and how they stay stuck once you had your design laid out. Each tile is held together by a little circle of genius called a Flordot. The Flordots are so easy to apply and hold the tiles together perfectly making it easy to move your masterpiece around if you need to. When you want a change the tiles come apart easily and you can store them, so if get bored you can change it up. If you run out of Flordots you can just order more!

I was putting together FLOR’s Seagrass Rug which looks absolutely stunning in my entry way. It is made from their plush collection of tiles and it is so soft and feels great beneath your feet! I cannot tell you how much fun I had putting this rug together, and it makes you want to do even more. It’s a bit addicting and I was somewhat bummed when I ran out of tiles to stick together, because I was on a roll. I am already looking for more reasons to go buy more FLOR tiles to do various areas in the house.
We are looking to move the boys play area to the basement, one of these days, and this would be an ideal place to use them. Another thing I would definitely recommend when getting your FLOR rug is their cleaning kit, so you always have something on hand for the occasional spill or mishap to keep your FLOR tiles looking nice.
