Whether you are a seasoned DIYer or venturing into your first home decorating project, FLOR carpet squares are easy to install. Instead of smelly glues or sharp nails, all you need are FLORdots™ to secure your design in place. FLOR tiles connect to each other - not to your floor underneath.

For details, see our downloadable FLOR Installation Instructions.

No More Glue!

FLORdots are one-sided, non-toxic adhesives that stick to the bottom of each tile - sticky side up. They adhere each tile to its neighbor instead of your beautiful hardwoods underneath. FLORdots come with every order and securely hold even the largest area rugs or wall-to-wall designs in place.

Where does FLOR go?

FLOR can be installed in virtually any indoor area that has a clean, hard, dry surface. FLOR should NOT be installed over carpeting or padding*, floors with hand painted or vintage varnish finish, unfinished waxed floors or outdoors. FLOR may be installed over smooth, fully-cured (minimum of 90 days) concrete floors. To seal concrete surfaces, use a non-solvent based sealer (from your local hardware store or home improvement center). Let the surface dry completely before installing FLOR. If you're unsure if FLOR will work for your surface, call Customer Care at 1.866.281.3567.

* FLOR has a firm, but flexible backing. Installation of FLOR over a soft subfloor or existing carpeting or rugs will cause the tiles to separate when weight is applied to the surface.

The Office

FLOR's flexibility is ideal for today's open office environments. You can define a space, add style to common areas or create distinctive traffic patterns. Visit the FLOR for Business page, or call Customer Care at 1.866.281.3567 to inquire about installing FLOR in office or commercial applications.

Designing with FLOR

Most FLOR tiles can be installed by either laying tiles in the same direction (monolithic) or laying them in a parquet style (tiles rotated 90 degrees). We typically make a recommendation on the method of installation, but ultimately, the choice is yours. Change your FLOR as often as you like - inserting new colors or patterns to freshen up for a special occasion or replacing your entire FLOR for a change of pace. If you'd like more help on what works best for your FLOR style, call Customer Care at 1.866.281.3567.

Trimming FLOR Tiles

To cut FLOR tiles, use a metal straight edge and a sharp carpet knife. Just score the back of the tile a few times to get a nice, clean cut. Remember, FLOR is fused onto backing so no fraying will occur. Hang on to the extra pieces you cut, even the mistakes, because chances are you'll be able to reuse them somewhere else.

Repurpose your FLOR

If you have extra FLOR, save the tiles in their original boxes to use as future replacements when the need arises. Or, use your extras someplace else in your home - as an entryway doormat, for example. When you move, take FLOR with you. FLORdots makes it easy to pickup tiles, pack them away and rearrange them in your new home. Or, you can always consider donating your extra FLOR to a local charity or school.

Recycle your FLOR

When you're done with your FLOR, call us at 1.866.281.3567 - we want it back. We'll take your old FLOR tiles so they can be recycled into new product. It's part of our environmental efforts and our promise to you that no FLOR will end up in a landfill.

Wall-To-Wall

Installing FLOR wall-to-wall is almost as easy as doing an area rug. You will need a carpet knife and a metal straight edge to cut those tiles that butt up against the wall. FLOR tiles should be scored on the back side a few times for a clean cut. Step-by-step instructions and helpful tips come in each box but if you need more assistance, feel free to call one of our Customer Care representatives at 1.866.281.3567. Or see our downloadable FLOR Installation Instructions.

Area Rugs and Runners

FLOR area rugs install quickly and easily. Just clear the area you want to cover and begin laying down some tiles. Once your design is where you want it, begin joining the carpet tiles using FLORdots to connect the edges of one tile to another (sticky side up). Simply press firmly to secure the FLORdots to the bottom of each tile. The end result is a single design, a single area rug - like a floating floor. And, because FLORdots are adhesives instead of glue, you can rearrange your design as much as you like. Your FLOR area rug will stay put under foot or vacuuming. If you need more FLORdots, simply order online at FLOR.com or call Customer Care at 1.866.281.3567.
