Ray Anderson

As founder and chairman of Interface, Inc., FLOR's parent company, Ray Anderson is recognized the world over as one of the most influential business and environmental leaders. Ray's latest book, Confessions of a Radical Industrialist: Profits, People, Purpose - Doing Business by Respecting the Earth is available now.

The story is now legend; the "spear in the chest" epiphany Ray Anderson experienced when he first read Paul Hawken's The Ecology of Commerce seeking inspiration for a speech on the company's environmental vision.

Fourteen years and a sea change later, Interface, Inc., is nearly 50 percent up "Mount Sustainability," the journey towards a vision that no one would have imagined for the company or the petroleum-intensive industry of carpet manufacturing which has been forever changed by Anderson's vision.

The once captain of industry, now environmentalist, has authored a book chronicling his journey, Mid-Course Correction, and become an unlikely screen hero in the 2004 Canadian documentary, "The Corporation." He's a sought after speaker and advisor on all issues eco, including a turn as co-chairman of the President's Council on Sustainable Development. He was named one of TIME International's Heroes for the Environment in 2007. Download Ray Anderson's full bio. Hear Ray in person, find out when and where.

Ray reflects while providing vision for the future:

Ray Anderson officially declared Interface's journey to sustainability during a groundbreaking speech he delivered to a company task force on August 31, 1994.

In a recent interview, Ray discusses his thoughts as he delivered that specific speech, and the reaction of Interface associates in the days and weeks following, as well as the company's progress and remaining challenges to accomplish Mission Zero by 2020.
