Home | FLOR Fall 2010 Perspective

We surveyed the design horizons. We gathered a plethora of observations and reflections that pave the way for creative plenty. We analyzed these new directions using three principles at the heart of our design philosophy: beauty, adaptability and responsibility. Forge ahead, read, see and discover the possibilities in a fresh, new Perspective.
Beauty. The criteria for what is beautiful has expanded beyond being visually pleasing to include being culturally authentic, enduringly useful, furiously original and inherently able to resist obsolescence - both in form and function.
Adaptability. We're seeing the concept of adaptability manifesting itself in a host of surprising ways. Conceptual mash-ups such as urban/rural, artificial/organic, industrial/handcraft combine technological techniques with conventional aesthetics in ways that make life and style a little easier to manage.
Responsibility. We continue to see more consumers striving to create sustainable living environments. They're rethinking the idea of luxury, focusing more considered acquisition by choosing products beauty as well as value, quality and practicality. The mindset of the new consumer can be summed up in two words: conscientious consumption.
