Travis London talks color, design, and exclusive styling tips and tricks.

Tell us a little about yourself and what inspires your style.

I am the founder of Studio London Co., a design company based here in Miami Beach. My approach to design is very colorful, very bold, and full of authenticity. I like to understand who my clients are and try to express their personalities in a way that they can’t in their day-to-day lives. The city of Miami inspires me the most. I love the colorful eccentricness, the tanlines, all of it. I live in the Art Deco district, and I can walk out the door and feel inspired by all the buildings in beautiful blues and pinks. There’s color everywhere in Miami Beach.

How do you choose a rug when you’re designing a space?

I always pick the rug after the furniture and the wall colorings—it’s the finishing touch. If a client has kids or pets, that also influences the rugs I choose. You want a rug that can take a lot of traffic and has an easy clean-up. My dogs are constantly playing in my living room, and FLOR is perfect for that area.

Do you have any interior design tips for our readers?

Look at what you already have. Sometimes you have hidden jewels. It’s not always about buying a whole new sofa; it’s seeing the great things you already own and highlighting them within the space. Oh, and always have a great rug.

Tell us about your paint line.

I’m all about color, so having my own paint line was something I always wanted to do. That’s why I made Studio London Co. paint. It’s a way to have fun with color, and it’s an affordable and easy change. My paint line is in every room of my house!

What are your tips for designing with color?

Every room has a different feeling. Who we are in the bedroom is different from who we are in the living room, where we entertain. Look in your closet at what colors you wear when you want to feel fun and playful, and use them in the living room. The colors you wear to feel sexy and sensual, incorporate into the bedroom.
