One of the simplest steps toward sustainability is owning a rug made to last. Our modular design makes it easy to replace damaged tiles as needed, instead of your whole rug. Plus, they’re made from recycled materials and renewable energy for a look you can feel good about.

Avoid Carbon
Make FLOR tiles that are built to last by continuing material efficiency and waste reduction in the manufacturing process.
Reduce Carbon
Continue decreased usage of virgin petroleum-derived raw materials, so great design doesn’t come at the expense of the Earth.
Store Carbon
Use recycled, bio-based materials to store carbon, so rugs can be reused and recycled again and again.
Inspire
Lead and influence others to help accelerate their own journeys to meet the urgency of the climate crisis.

Our Journey to Sustainability
1994
After a life-changing epiphany, Ray Anderson, CEO, embarks on a high-stakes quest to eliminate all negative environmental impacts Interface has on the environment by 2020.
2003
Interface launches FLOR, its speciality design brand, to create stylish rugs for residential homes.
2007
FLOR begins its Return & Recycle program, inviting customers to mail their old tiles back to be recycled into a beautiful new rug.
Once your FLOR has lived its useful life, send us your old tiles and we’ll turn them into new ones.

2010
Interface becomes the first brand in carpet or apparel to use Aquafil’s ECONYL® yarn, made from 100% regenerated nylon waste.
ECONYL® 100% recycled nylon is the same as brand-new nylon but doesn’t utilize new resources.

FLOR publishes verified carbon footprint data for all products.
2022
FLOR utilizes materials that have sequestered carbon from the atmosphere, creating our first ever carbon negative area rugs.

We offer three backings that are designed to move towards a carbon negative future.
FLOR partners with Aquafil, who recycles used nylon into beautiful yarns for our area rugs. Aquafil’s regenerated ECONYL® 100% recycled nylon is the same as brand-new nylon but doesn’t utilize new resources.
Glasbac™
This vinyl backing is built for durability and designed for circularity. GlasBac™ contains recycled content and is fully recyclable through FLOR’s Return & Recycle™ program.
CQuest™Bio
This non-vinyl backing is made with biopolymers, plus bio based and recycled fillers that are net carbon negative.
CQuest™BioX
Our most sustainable backing, this has the same material makeup as Interface’s CQuestBio with a higher concentration of carbon negative materials.
