We brought our latest styles to Modernism Week 2019 in
Welcome to Palm Springs, otherwise known as the Mid-Century Mecca of America. Each year, thousands of design lovers from around the world gather for Modernism Week, a celebration of modern design, art, and architecture.
FLOR partnered with Modernism Week to sponsor the Fox family on their journey to create their dream vacation home. Check out their modern digs below, sponsored by FLOR. Then catch their upcoming reality show, Stay or Sell, on HGTV in August 2019.
The terrazzo rug is our favorite. It’s a fun twist on a Mid-Century staple, and a much more affordable alternative.

Mod Cow actually works as a neutral in this room. The pattern adds interest, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming.
Runners add life and warmth. And with FLOR, if you drop a jar of salsa on it, you can just pick up a tile and clean it.
Our hallway is very unique — finding a runner would’ve been impossible without custom cutting from FLOR.
We wanted themed bedrooms, but we didn’t want it to be kitschy. The rug in our son’s room added a touch of maturity without taking away the fun.
In the master bedroom, the rug adds a colorful vintage element while still letting the wallpaper shine.
Creative power couple Heather and Brad Fox eat, sleep and breathe design. They’re the minds behind the Minnesota-based real estate and renovation company Fox Homes. Their most recent project: their very own vacation home, an Eichler floor plan in Palm Springs.
Minnesota will always be our home, but there are some design elements we can’t have here because of the cold, like glass walls and flat roofs. Palm Springs has amazing modern design and over-the-top colors. It’s the perfect place for a bright and fun home—it feels like a vacation the moment we walk in.
I’m a huge fan of incorporating patterns in rugs. Patterns ground your space, add art to the floor, and they also hide messes! Since we’re opening our home to vacation rentals, that was very important. Out here in the desert, the floors get dirty with guests and kids coming and going. Patterns are the perfect fix, and FLOR had so many fun options, we could’ve picked ten rugs for every room.
When we decided to list our home for vacation rentals, we noticed that most Mid-Century rentals don’t allow kids. We’ve got two super-creative sons, Graham and Wesley, so we wanted to create a home everyone could enjoy. The FLOR rugs are beautiful pieces, but if something happens, we won’t cry. We’ll just replace a tile.
Modernism Week celebrates and fosters appreciation of midcentury architecture and design, as well as contemporary thinking in these fields, by encouraging education, preservation and sustainable modern living as represented in the greater Palm Springs area.
